Unfortunately this is not the first time, or the last time this has happened. You make a good point, it seems pretty obvious that there was not enough scrutiny of this officer.

My bet, this is not his first horrible over-reaction. In the coming weeks and months I would not be at all surprised to learn that he has a disciplinary record for being abusive to people.

School districts make volunteers jump through hoops because the school wants to protect students from “the unknown factor” of people entering the school. The school district forces volunteers to summit to criminal background checks at the beginning of each semester?

What type of check did this guy have to pass?
